Introduction
ELLIPAL wallets use several security elements: seed phrase, passphrase, device password, and Card-PIN.
Each protects a different part of the wallet system. Understanding their roles helps you manage your wallet securely.
Seed Phrase
Your seed phrase is the most important security element of your wallet.
⚠️ Important
Whoever controls your seed phrase controls your assets.
Never share your seed phrase with anyone. A seed phrase (also called a recovery phrase or mnemonic phrase) is a sequence of words that acts as the master key to your digital assets.
ELLIPAL seed phrases follow the BIP39 standard word list and are generated offline inside the hardware wallet.
Supported lengths: 12/15/18/21/24 words
Anyone who has these words can access your funds without needing your device.
Safety rule: Never store it digitally, never share it, and only enter it directly into a trusted hardware wallet.
Passphrase
A passphrase is an optional extra security layer added to the seed phrase.
It generates a separate wallet derived from the same seed phrase.
Format: 1–32 characters (letters / numbers / symbols, case-sensitive)
If the passphrase is forgotten, the wallet created with it cannot be recovered.
Password (Titan)
The device password verifies your identity when performing sensitive actions on the hardware wallet.
It is required when:
● Signing transactions
● Deleting accounts on the device
This password protects device operations but does not control wallet ownership.
Card-PIN
The Card-PIN authorizes actions when using the ELLIPAL X Card.
It is required when:
● Connecting the cold wallet to the app
● Signing transactions
Format: 6–16 digit PIN
The ELLIPAL App PIN only locks the mobile app interface and is different from the Card-PIN used for transaction authorization.
How These Security Elements Work Together
Different security elements protect different layers of the wallet system.

└── Card-PIN
In simple terms:
● Seed Phrase → controls the wallet
● Passphrase → optional extra protection
● Password / Card-PIN → verify device operations
If someone obtains your seed phrase (and passphrase, if used), they can fully access your assets.
FAQ
Can the seed phrase be changed?
No. To use a different seed phrase, you must create a new wallet and transfer your assets.
Can the passphrase be changed?
You can use a different passphrase to generate a different wallet, but assets stored under the original passphrase remain tied to that passphrase.
What happens if I forget the password or Card-PIN?
You may need to reset the device or card and restore your wallet using your seed phrase.
